OPENIDS Homeowners Standard v.1.0

Developed through the OPENIDS Data Standards Working Group (DSWG) Homeowners Workstream, the OPENIDS Homeowners Standard v.1.0 introduces a consistent framework for capturing and exchanging property risk data. OPENIDS

Data is essential in the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry, driving risk assessment, pricing, and innovation.

However, the lack of common data standards leads to billions in annual costs for translation and reporting. This hampers collaboration with regulators and delays effective legislation.

OPENIDS brings the industry together to address these challenges by creating a common language for insurance data through open, freely available standards. By developing standards collaboratively across the insurance ecosystem, OPENIDS enables industry-wide adoption, improves interoperability, and reduces data friction—without requiring organizations to replace their existing systems.

The result is a shared foundation for the industry to exchange information more efficiently, collaborate more effectively, and support continued innovation.
